Shopping à la française...by Lollipops

Are you ready for shopping?

I hope the answer is “yes” because today I decided to share with you the secrets of the French woman as seen by Lollipops. Elegance, power and fun…are the three elements that are present in the brand’s each collection releasing a refinement so Parisian.
Bags, leather products, jewellery and shoes trimmed with bows and cats and colored more often than not in the brand’s fetish color... pink-rose.

“…always so optimistic, Lollipops makes you a nice initiation of style “à la française”!”

Fashion on the big screen

We remember them for their movies, for their great acting in them, or for their femininity and elegance…But it’s true that sometimes we just can’t help but bring them in mind for their iconic dresses and looks that have greatly influenced women’s style since they first appeared on the big screen.

Possibly the most characteristic film costume of the 30s was the white evening gown with ruffled sleeves created by Adrian for Joan Crawford in the 1932 film Letty Lynton. Macy’s, the New York department store, is reputed to have sold a million copies of it.

Rita Hayworth’s strapless black satin dress designed by Columbia Pictures costume designer Jean Louis has inspired countless red carpet copies.(Gilda – 1946)

Marilyn Monroe appeared in a shocking pink dress designed by William Travilla in one of the most famous scenes of the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Grace Kelly’s dress designed by Edith Head in Rear window(1954)

Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch(1955) while her white dress is blown by the air of the grate.

Grace Kelly in Edith Head’s ice-blue chiffon cocktail dress in the movie To Catch a Thief(1955)

Audrey Hepburn in one of her famous black dresses by Givenchy in Breakfast at Tiffany’s(1961).

In Annie Hall(1977)  Diane Keaton’s   “androgynous chic” influenced women who started wearing men’s ties, waistcoats and wide-leg pants.

Sharon Stone in a white short shift dress by Ellen Mirojnick. No further comments… ;)(Basic Instict – 1992)

Nicole Kidman’s red satin gown in Moulin Rouge(2001)

Keira Knightley’s emerald green silk gown, designed by Jacqueline Durran(Atonement 2007)

What about you? Which one is your favorite?

Tartan - A post dedicated to my "I love Tartan" followers

"Updated with Elisa's Dress"
We all say that tartan is a big trend for this fall. I totally agree. But I can’t really think of a season that plaid shirts and Scottish skirts were not in fashion. I always liked wearing them, maybe in a different style every year but in one way or another they were always part of my wardrobe.

Moschino - Photo Style.com

Tartan originated in woven wool but nowadays it is made in lots of different materials and in a great variety of colors. It is very closely associated with Scottish kilts, which almost always have tartan patterns. In North America it is usually called plaid.
In modern times the two terms are  used interchangeably, as both feauture similar geometric designs but  in Scotland, the word "plaid" is used to describe a shawl or blanket that is made from wool and patterned with horizontal and vertical stripes.
